08.Jun.2010 A busy August for the ‘Project!
The month of August promises to be a busy one for your friends in AJP. After an early summer of side-projects (see below) the guys in AJP will be hitting the road a bit during the dogs days of summer. As Bangor Daily News music critic Emily Burnham says:
“AJP …play a funky, freewheeling brand of jazz fusion.Think the cooler, bop-era side of Miles Davis, crossed with today’s contemporary jazz-influenced jam bands like Soulive. Dig it, baby!”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. See you at the show!
5 August: Stewart library concert series, Corinna. Outside show at the town bandstand. 7.00.
7 August: Winterport Music Festival. We’re calling this set “Forty Minutes of Fury”. Miles did 38 minutes at the Isle of Wight Festival. We get two more- and we intend to use them… We detonate at 1.00, and you will not believe the set we’ve brewed up for this one!! Hint: If Weather Report, the Brecker Brothers, and Phish all got together, it would be something like what we’ve got planned!!!
20 August: Bar Harbor Jazz Festival. This will be our third show at Maine’s finest summer jazz festival. See you on the village green that afternoon from 4.00 to 5.30. In the event of rain we’ll be upstairs at Carmen Veranda.
